Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

FoldFX ("the App", "we", "us") is an independent Android application developed by its creator, the FoldFX team ("the Developer") that recreates a fluid, hinge-driven screen transition on foldable devices. The App is distributed through app stores for Android devices. If you have any questions about this policy or about the App, you can reach the Developer through any of the contact channels listed in section 10 below.

2. Information the App does NOT collect

FoldFX is built so that there is, quite simply, nothing to protect. The App does not collect, record, transmit, sell or share:

• Personal information such as your name, email address, phone number or postal address;
• Precise or approximate location data of any kind;
• Device identifiers, advertising identifiers or IP addresses;
• Usage analytics, crash telemetry or performance monitoring data;
• Contacts, photos, files, microphone or camera data;
• Any information about other apps installed on your device.

The App contains no advertising SDKs, no analytics frameworks, no trackers and no social media integrations. It does not create user accounts and does not require registration of any kind.

3. Information processed locally on your device

Two categories of technical data are processed entirely on your device in order for the App to function. Neither ever leaves your device:

• Hinge angle and fold-state readings. The App reads Sensor.TYPE_HINGE_ANGLE and Android's fold-state information (via Jetpack WindowManager) in real time to drive the fold transition. These readings are used transiently in memory, are not written to storage, and are not transmitted anywhere.
• Your preferences. Settings you choose in the App — such as the reveal window and blur strength — are saved locally on your device using Android DataStore Preferences. This data remains in the App's private storage, is readable only by the App, and is removed when you uninstall the App or clear its data.

4. Permissions

FoldFX requests no dangerous Android permissions. It does not ask for access to your location, camera, microphone, contacts, storage, phone state or network state. The only hardware interaction is reading the hinge angle sensor (or the fold-state API), which does not require a runtime permission grant. Because the App performs no network communication for its core functionality, there is no data channel through which information could leave your device.

5. Children's privacy

The App is a general-audience utility and is not directed at children under the age of 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction). Because the App does not collect any personal information from any user of any age, no personal information about children is knowingly collected, used or shared. If you believe a child has provided personal information through a channel associated with the App, please contact the Developer so it can be deleted.

6. This website

This website is a static site hosted by a third-party hosting provider. It does not use advertising services and does not collect personal information from visitors unless a visitor explicitly chooses to provide it. Loading the site necessarily involves your browser requesting files from the hosting provider's infrastructure. Standard server logs maintained by the hosting provider may include your IP address and browser details; the Developer does not access or use this data for any purpose.

The launch-notification form is the single optional way to hand over personal data on this site, and using it is entirely voluntary. If you enter your email address there, it is used for one purpose only: sending you a notification when FoldFX launches. The address is delivered through an automated form-delivery service to the Developer's inbox; it is not added to any marketing list, is not shared with anyone else and is not used for any other purpose. You can ask for your address to be removed at any time by contacting the Developer (section 10), and no further email will be sent after the launch notification.

Cookies and analytics: on your first visit the site shows a consent banner, and analytics only run if you accept. If you decline — or leave the banner without choosing — nothing is measured in your browser at all. If you accept, the site stores a single small preference flag in your browser's local storage to remember your choice, counts visits through a cookieless counter service, and loads a standard web-analytics service (currently Google Analytics, which does not store your IP address) to measure which pages, sections and buttons visitors use; this may involve analytics cookies such as “_ga”. There is no advertising, no profiling, no selling of data and no cross-site tracking, and the FoldFX app itself never receives any of this data. You can review or change your choice at any time via the “Cookie settings” link in the footer of every page.

Payments. When you buy FoldFX, the checkout is operated by Polar.sh, the Developer's merchant of record. Polar processes your payment and your email address in order to deliver the license key and the receipt; the Developer never sees or stores your card details. The App itself sends Polar only your license key, a random install ID and a device label of your choosing — nothing else.

7. Legal basis and your rights

For users in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and other jurisdictions with similar laws: the App does not collect or process personal data, so there is typically no personal data processing subject to the GDPR or comparable regulations. The only personal data the Developer may ever hold is the email address you voluntarily provide through the optional launch-notification form on this website; that processing is based on your consent, is limited to the single launch notification described in section 6, and you may withdraw your consent at any time by asking to be removed. Under applicable law you may also have rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability and objection regarding that email address; you can exercise them by contacting the Developer (section 10).

8. Data retention and deletion

All data created by the App (your saved preferences) lives in the App's private storage on your device. You can delete it at any time by clearing the App's data in your device settings, or permanently by uninstalling the App; uninstalling removes all App-related data from your device. If you joined the launch-notification list, your email address is kept only until the launch notification has been sent and is deleted shortly afterwards — or sooner if you ask to be removed.

9. Changes to this policy

If a future version of the App introduces features that change how information is handled — for example, optional cloud functionality — this policy will be updated to describe those changes before the corresponding update is released, and the "effective date" at the top of this page will be revised. Material changes will also be summarized in the App's release notes. Your continued use of the App after an updated policy takes effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
